MIRI: The local council here continues to carry out anti-rabies operations as the disease is still prevalent in Sarawak.

“Stray dogs are a cause for concern. This is reflected from the increasing number of complaints from the public about strays received by us recently,” said Miri City Council (MCC).

MCC reminded pet owners to keep their dogs in their house compounds and not let them roam about in public places.

“This is also to avoid their pets from getting infected by the rabies virus from strays.

“We would like to assure the public, especially pet owners, that our task force is carrying out its duties in accordance with standard operating procedure guidelines.

“Personnel are trained and familiar with their duties as they have been doing this for many years – since the outbreak in 2017,” MCC added.
