MIRI: The Evolveland International Mural & Art Festival 2026 is strengthening the creative economy ecosystem in Miri by providing a platform for artists, cultural practitioners, creative producers and local entrepreneurs to showcase their work, build networks and explore collaboration opportunities.
Themed "Beyond Art: Where It All Begins", the festival, held at Mercure Miri City Centre until 6 September, brings together a variety of programmes including art exhibitions and experiences, cultural performances and creative activities.
Mayor of Miri, who is also Pujut Assemblyman, Adam Yii Siew Sang, was also present to view the exhibitions and works showcased at the festival, on Friday.
The platform is further expanded through the So Extra <Origin 2.0> Market, which brings together the creative community and local entrepreneurs, providing space for creative works and products to be showcased to visitors.
Collaboration with The Tuyang Initiative, meanwhile, gives traditional Dayak cultural practitioners the opportunity to showcase their identity and heritage, while opening up space for creative collaboration between traditional and contemporary elements.
Meanwhile, So Extra Market, celebrating its third anniversary, is featuring the <Origin 2.0> Market and a conceptual art exhibition showcasing the journey, ideas and creativity that have shaped the platform over the past three years.
Organised by Evolveland Berhad in collaboration with The Tuyang Initiative and So Extra Market, the festival also supports efforts to strengthen Miri as a creative and cultural tourism destination, while opening up wider opportunities for the development of local talent and creative economic activities. -UKASnews
