Enforcement — Advertisement Unit
Permit and advertising material licences are one of the main sources of revenue for the Enforcement Division of Miri City Council.
The unit covers bunting permits, stretch banners, business name signboards, fence advertising, project signboards, large billboards and all other advertising materials under the jurisdiction of the Council — governed by the Local Authorities (Advertisements) By-Laws, 2012.

Note: A temporary licence not exceeding 3 months may be issued for religious, educational, cultural, political, social or recreational events. Advertising materials must be removed within 2 working days after the licence expires.
Required Documents — Business Name Signboard Application
- 1Site / location plan or photograph showing placement of the signboard / advertisement
- 2Sketch plan showing full details of the advertisement (design, measurement, material, structural detail) — endorsed by a registered Professional Engineer or sign craft manager (chopped and signed)
- 3Extract of land title / print-out of land title
- 4Tenancy Agreement or Letter of Consent from proprietor / Sale and Purchase Agreement
- 5Form 9 / Form 24 / Form 49, Companies Act 1965 / Trade Licence
- 6Registered trade mark (for business name only) — registered with the Intellectual Property Corporation
- 7Public Liability Insurance (not compulsory but advisable)
