Controlling insect populations, particularly mosquitoes, by applying pesticides to aquatic breeding habitats to destroy them at the larval stage.

Stagnant Water (Breeding)

Eliminate water pools or containers that may become mosquito breeding sites — tyres, pots, drains and open culverts.

Dense vegetation to be trimmed
Vegetation (Hiding Sites)

Cut, trim and maintain vegetation. Ensure the first branch has a clearance of at least 2 feet from the ground.

Cluttered items mosquito hiding site

Avoid accumulation or hoarding of items that may create hiding or resting places for mosquitoes.

Fogging
Cold ULV fogging machine
Cold Fogging (ULV)

High pressure within the machine converts a water-based solution into fine particles that spread widely to eliminate adult mosquitoes.

Thermal fogging outdoors
Thermal Fogging

Uses heat to vaporise a diesel-based fogging liquid, producing thick smoke used in larger open areas.

Key Mosquito Facts

Full life cycle: egg to larva to pupa to adult takes just 7–10 days.

14–30 days

A mosquito can live for 14 to 30 days, laying eggs multiple times throughout its lifetime.

One female mosquito with 4 blood meals in 3 months can produce over 11 million adult mosquitoes.
