SEPTIC TANK DESLUDGING SERVICE NOTICE

Miri City Council is committed to ensuring a clean, safe, and well-maintained sanitation system for the well-being of the community.

Scheduled Septic Tank Desludging

The scheduled septic tank desludging programme has now been expanded to cover several zones, as stated in the attached schedule.

Application for Areas Yet to Receive the Service

For areas that have not yet received the septic tank desludging service, and for property owners who missed the previous notice, applications may be submitted at:

• Sarawak Service Counter, UTC Miri
• Maintenance and Public Services Section (PCM Section), Level 3A, MBM Multi-Storey Car Park Building

All applications are subject to the terms and conditions set by the Council.

Eligibility Requirements for Subsidised Applications

• No outstanding property assessment tax.
• Applications must comply with the designated property category or type.
• Additional (Ad-Hoc) applications are subject to the Council's policy and approval. Charges will apply in accordance with the established policy.

Online Application

Please be informed that the online septic tank desludging application portal is currently under development. Further information will be announced through the Council's official channels once the system is operational.

Scope of the Septic Tank Desludging Service

To ensure the work can be carried out smoothly, property owners are required to ensure that:

• There are no obstructions that may interfere with the septic tank desludging process.
• The access route to the septic tank is suitable and accessible for the contractor's vehicles and equipment.
• The septic tank cover is not cemented or tiled to facilitate the desludging process.

The scope of work for the contractor appointed by the Council is limited to the removal of septic tank contents only.

Any repair or maintenance work such as:

• Blocked septic tanks or pipes;
• The presence of rubbish, oil, or other foreign materials in the system; or
• Damage to the sewerage system,

is the responsibility of the property owner to maintain and repair.
