MIRI (Jan 20): A tow truck and a decontrolled lorry were among vehicles seized during Road Transport Department (JPJ) operations here on Monday.

JPJ Sarawak said in a statement that the Ops Khas Back to School (BTS) and Ops Gempur for commercial vehicles were conducted around the city by the JPJ Miri Operations Unit.

During the operations, 217 commercial and private vehicles were inspected.

“Inspection on these vehicles revealed various offences including drivers without valid driving licences, failure to wear seat belts, expired driving licences, as well as other offences involving vehicle technical aspects.

“The vehicles seized were due to offences involving expired road tax and lack of insurance coverage,” JPJ said.

JPJ Sarawak added it remains committed to continuously and comprehensively carrying out enforcement operations as a proactive measure to enhance compliance with road traffic laws and to ensure the safety of all road users.
