MIRI, 29 Oct: The Borneo Jazz Festival (BJF) 2025 is expected to deliver a significant impact on the tourism sector and the local creative industry, further strengthening Miri’s image as a cultured and competitive city in the Borneo region.

For Hari Ahmad, 27, the festival is not just an entertainment event, but also an opportunity to promote Miri’s rich arts and culture to the outside world.

“I’m looking forward to having a good time with friends, enjoying great music and a fun atmosphere. In terms of benefits, it will certainly boost the tourism sector, helping us attract more visitors to Miri.

“Miri is actually rich in arts and culture. With events like this, and with the presence of international tourists, we can gain more recognition,” he said when met by TVS here today.

Meanwhile, Radzie Ahmad, 24, hopes that next year’s festival will feature more participation from local artists to foster the spirit of the creative community in Miri.

“I’m really looking forward to the fun atmosphere, the music and the positive vibes. For next year, I hope to see more Indonesian artists as well as local artists from Miri being highlighted,” he said.

For Fizzarool Naz’mi, 34, festivals like this not only bring in visitors but also create opportunities for collaboration between local and international musicians.

“This festival can attract the attention of overseas tourists. Miri is already rich in arts and culture, so with the arrival of international visitors, we can showcase this uniqueness at a higher level,” he said.

With the theme “Jazzy Miri”, the Borneo Jazz Festival 2025 will take place from 31 October to 2 November 2025 at Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club, Miri.

Organised by the Miri City Council (MBM) with the support of the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, the festival will feature an impressive line-up including Aina Abdul, Aisya Retno, Amsyar Leee, Jaz Hayat, NonaRia, Tabitha King, On The Rug, Aruel Ariel & Fasola, Pop n Bop and The Echoes.

Hosted by Kim Goodburn and Melisha Lin, the three-day festival will not only offer international-standard performances but will also showcase local cultural heritage, cuisine and creative exhibitions.

The public is invited to attend and enliven the Borneo Jazz Festival 2025, one of the largest music events in the Borneo region and a continued source of pride for the people of Miri.
