MIRI (Dec 3): Police have arrested a man who is believed to have vandalised a vehicle by splashing paint on it in front of the owner’s residence here.
Miri District police station chief ASP Goldy Jangan led a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team to arrest the suspect at 6.14pm on Monday at a house on Jalan Bakam.
During the operation, police also seized a mobile phone believed to have been used by the suspect while he committed the offence.
The suspect is currently being held at the Miri Central Police Station lock-up to facilitate investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.
The Section provides for a jail term of between one and five years, or a fine, or both upon conviction.
Miri police urged the public to exercise caution and avoid falling prey to offers or advertisements involving unlicensed online moneylenders on social media platforms.
Members of the public can provide information on criminal activities in the district to the nearest police station.
