VIRTUAL EARTH HOUR 2024: UNITING FOR OUR ONE SHARED HOME
Miri City Council is the host for Virtual Earth Hour 2024, a landmark event officiated by the distinguished Guest of Honour, YB Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak. This event, organized under the leadership of our Organizing Chairman, Cr Ernest Goh Khiok Seng, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Committee of Miri City Council, aims to bring together communities and stakeholders in a collective effort to address climate change and advocate for environmental action. Scheduled to take place on 23rd March, 2024, commencing at 7:40 PM. This event will take place at Level 2 (Foyer Area), Miri City Hall as the main stage of the event. The lights-off of non-essential electrics will start from 8:30 pm until 9:30 pm symbolizing our city's dedication to environmental consciousness.
We are honored to have esteemed partners such as JCI Lutong, Riam Hill International School, Riam Institute of Technology, and Riam Road Secondary School join us in this endeavor, amplifying our message of environmental responsibility to citizens far and wide.
In collaboration with councils across Sarawak, including Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan, Majlis Perbandaran Padawan, Majlis Perbandaran Sibu, Majlis Daerah Sarikei, Majlis Daerah Limbang, Majlis Daerah Luar Bandar Sibu, Majlis Daerah Marudi, Majlis Daerah Lawas and Majlis Daerah Subis. Virtual Earth Hour 2024 aims to raise awareness about climate change and the imperative for immediate action. For this event, 50 locations will participate in light off their lights.
