MIRI:
Today marks a significant milestone for the Miri City Council as it launches the Miri May Fest in honor of its 19th anniversary since achieving city status.

Miri attained city status on May 20, 2005.

In a statement during today’s council meeting, Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang announced the launch of the May Festival, or May Fest, spanning the entirety of May 2024, aimed at celebrating this milestone and fostering public engagement.

“Today, we’re excited to launch Mini May Fest 2024. From May 1 to May 30, Miri will be bustling with activities for the local community and adventurous travelers.” Yii said.

Themed ‘Equatorial Harmony: A Blend of Cultures and Flavours’, this year’s festivity aims to showcase Miri’s unique equatorial location and rich cultural heritage.

“This year, we are thrilled to introduce the digital Miri May Fest Booklet, your guide to our celebration, offering insights into Miri’s culture, arts, and community.

“With engaging articles, vibrant photographs, detailed schedules, and maps, the booklet ensures you can fully embrace the festivities and discover local talents and businesses,” he added.

“We continue to welcome everyone to join us in making Miri a “GREEN, SMART, AND MOST LIVEABLE INTERNATIONAL RESORT CITY” until May 31, 2024,” he said.

The council has also collaborated with six influencers for social media marketing, amplifying the reach of events and menus featured in Miri May Fest 2024.
