MIRI (Jan 25): The Bakti Madani (PBM) programme is set to run this Feb 7-9 at the Miri Indoor Stadium here, along with a smaller-scale event to be run in Sepupok, Niah.

The event is jointly organised by the Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) and Performance Augmentation Coordination Unit (Pacu) under the Prime Minister’s Office.

According to the organising chairman, Recoda chief executive officer Datuk Ismawi Ismuni, Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggin Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate the event’s official opening ceremony at the indoor stadium here this Feb 8.

“The event aims to showcase the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 as a long-term plan that provides the direction and strategies for Sarawak to achieve its aspirations of becoming a high-income state.

“The highlight of the three-day event is an exhibition by federal agencies, banks, government-linked companies (GLCs), and the private sector, featuring displays of progress under the Madani Government as well as the achievements and roadmap of the Sarawak government under the PCDS 2030 at both locations,” said Ismawi.

Other activities lined-up at both locations include ‘Jualan Rahmah’ (Rahmah Sale), sale of products and services by entrepreneurs, and a lucky draw.

“The grand prize for the lucky draw will be a Proton Saga, while other prizes include three motorcycles, as well as electronic devices and gadgets.

“Additionally, there will be a ‘Rakyat Concert’ featuring popular artistes like Baby Shima and Alleycats, as well as ‘Battle of the Bands’ at Miri Indoor Stadium,” said Ismawi.

He called upon the public to attend the event.

“We expect big crowds at both locations (Miri and Niah), with the opening ceremony at Miri Indoor Stadium expected to draw 2,000 visitors.

“We have entrepreneurs vying for the event’s 73 limited booths. Furthermore, only four local bands have been shortlisted to participate in the event,” said Ismawi.
