MIRI: The Miri City Council, in collaboration with Miri Oil Town Hash House Harriers Association, Bulatan Park Runners Club as a technical support team, is proud to announce the Miri City 20th Anniversary City Day Run.
The run will be held on May 18 at Marina Park City and the event is part of the Miri City 20th Anniversary – Miri Mayfest 2025 celebrations, commemorating the city’s remarkable journey of progress and unity since attaining city status.
“The 20th Anniversary City Day Run is not just a sporting event but a celebration of our city’s resilience, progress and community spirit,” Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said.
He added that the run aims to promote a healthy lifestyle by encouraging Mirians to stay active through a fun sporting event.
“It also fosters unity by bringing together people from different backgrounds to celebrate the city’s diversity and harmony.
“Additionally, the run showcases Miri’s latest developments, highlighting the city’s progress and growth.
“It also boosts tourism and economic activities by attracting both local and international participants, benefiting businesses and promoting Miri as a vibrant destination.”
He encouraged all Mirians, sports enthusiasts and visitors to join in celebrating 20 years of Miri City’s achievements by taking part in this meaningful run.
“Whether you are an avid runner or simply looking to enjoy a morning of fun and fitness, this event is for everyone.
“Let’s come together to make this 20th Anniversary City Day Run a memorable and successful celebration of Miri’s progress, unity, and community spirit.”
With the flag-off time set for 6.30am, participants will run a 5km route, with a registration fee of RM50 per person.
Each participant will receive an event T-shirt, a finisher medal and refreshments.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top five winners in both the Men’s and Women’s categories, with RM300 for 1st place, RM200 for 2nd place, RM150 for 3rd place, RM100 for 4th place and RM50 for 5th place.
